Veronika Zemanova AKA (Veronica Zemanova) was born in rural areas in the mountains of Sumava in South Bohemia - the most southern part of former Czechoslovakia. Year of birth - 1975 - was a 20m year life of the country behind the Iron Curtain, and from that moment has passed another 14 years before the country's liberation from communism.

To adolescence Veronika lived on a small farm in the mountains. It was a very simple and honest life close to nature, in which there was freedom of choice - although the choice was not anything else. She loved animals, perhaps due to the fact that she could tell them about your dreams - even while there is nobody about nothing dreamed. Future Czech Republic was then a very poor country, the farm had been virtually forgotten and frozen in time. At that time in those places there were no outstanding or dissenting individuals, and the days were no different from one another. Rumor had it that the cities are very dangerous, and corruption reigns, which always accompanies abuse of political power.

However, when Veronika was 18, she threw all her fears and concerns of his family, gathered their few belongings and left her parents' home in Prague - the capital, the magic Golden City on the river Vltava. But there awaited her not magic and gold. Veronika arrived by train on a dark and dirty train station in the town where she knew nobody, and where the first few years she had to literally survive in the incredible poverty in a small room with strangers. Shared toilet on the floor was the norm, and the bathroom was not at all, and to wash the girl had to go out and use for the fountain.

"Velvet Revolution" occurred 4 years earlier and Veronika Zemanova remember seeing on television hundreds of thousands of people on the streets of Prague, burning flags and demanding freedom for millions of people in the Czech Republic. She was pretty hard to contain this promise, when she decided to fly to Los Angeles to meet with famed photographer, not knowing a word of English. At the time of the shooting she had a few weeks to sleep on the bare floor in an empty house, hiding behind a thin blanket. But despite this, and perhaps because of this, her sad face with a soft and melancholy expression gradually winning magazines.
